Morocco's Atlantic coast stretches over 3,000 km from Dakhla, near the border with Mauritania up to Cap Spartel and the Straits of Gibraltar. Atlantic Coast offers some of the most unspoilt, pristine beaches in the whole region making it one of the best Morocco tourist attractions. Big waves there will keep surfers happy for hours.

The Atlantic coast offers far more reliable options including world famous rides such as Safi. Storm cells descend from the North Atlantic from Oct to Jan on a regular basis and the NE/SW lie of the Moroccan coastline here ensures that all of the points, reefs and beaches will be alive with energy throughout these periods. The further south you travel the more barren the coastline becomes. Travel around the West Sahara border can be a little sketchy and should be avoided at night.

The reality is that only a small portion of the coastline of Morocco has been adequately surveyed for surfing potential and the entire Atlantic coast offers excellent potential for discovery.

Trains are much better than local buses and usually most preferred recommended transport because of speed and comfort. Buses that are run between towns by CTM, Supratours and smaller companies are much better. You can also take a grande taxi (shared taxi) to travel between towns. And it's often the cheapest way of travelling between towns and cities in Morocco.

You can fly as well, but it's quite expensive and not very popular. You can also rent a car a drive yourself. Just make sure you have plenty of fuel if you travel to the countryside.

what to pack

The climate of Morocco is characterized by hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters.

You’ll need short sleeved t-shirts, shorts and long trousers (pants) and probably a light jacket or pullover for the more blustery days and evenings and sun cream for days out on the water. In winter bring long trousers (pants), warm pullovers, warm waterproof coats, scarves, hat and gloves!!

Definitely take along some bug repellent spray, good sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses! A small backpack makes a good carryon bag and will be useful in daily life. Women: remember to take a good flat pair of shoes.... And for everybody: pair of comfortable walking shoes will be great for walking.
And take a good protection for your camera from the sand.
