The one city which is well known to travellers in the Southern Spain is Andalusia. It is the most populous and the second largest, in terms of land area, of the seventeen autonomous communities of the Kingdom of Spain. Its capital and largest city is Seville.

The southern coastline of Spain shares itself between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. On the atlantic side the westward facing coastline of the province of Cadiz is the central hub of the surf scene offering well organised, powerful waves during the mild winters. The Mediterranean coastline does receive some quality yet short lived swells during the winter time though the Balearics can cut down the swell window somewhat for a lot of places. Menorca is a stand out of the Spanish Balearics as a surf destination being the most consistent due to its exposure.
