Southern Italy

Tivoli near Rome; Arpingstone; 08.08.2007
Southern Italy, lying north of the Calabria and Sicily region, has a few good surf spots including the famed Banzai reef. Constistency is low here, to down below 60 days of surf per year. Santa Marinelle near Rome seems to be amongst the better spots and the most popular, crowded even. The swell window opens up and consistency rises the further south east you head toward the Sirocco winds. Autumn and sping are the best times to visit as far as surfing goes, summer can be flat for months.
