Ineffable3000: A beach in the Guanacaste Province, 24 December 2006
Guanacaste is a province of Costa Rica, it is located in the north western part of the country and borders along Nicaragua to the north, Alajuela to the east and Puntarenas on the southeast.
Guanacaste experiences little rain and consistent heat from November to April and because of this humid climate, tourists tend to visit this province during the North American winter to enjoy the breathtaking Guanacastecan beaches.
where to stay
Tdawg: Pica Leña event in Nicoya, Costa Rica, 9 July 2004
There are many options available in this province. You may want to stay in hotels or vacation homes. Vacation homes are slightly cheaper than hotels and could give you more of a feel of the culture of the country. Staff may not be too familar with the english language though, so knowing Spanish would be ideal!
Costa Rica is a great place to learn Spanish as the "ticas" have a dialect that is easy to understand for someone just learning! If you do not know Spanish, try to stay at a vacation home and the friendly staff are usually more than willing to help!
