Madnat Ash Shamal is the capital of Ash-Shama, which is a municipality of Qatar. The name itself means "City of the North".

Madinat ash Shamal includes Ras Rakan, the farthest north point of the Qatari peninsula, and as such is surrounded by the Persian Gulf in all directions except for the south.

Ash-Shama is divided into three regions - including: Madīnat ash-Shamāi, Fuwayriṭ and az-Zubārah
