Those willing to travel to Eaglehawk, Boneyards or East Coast last week were rewarded with 5 days of 3-6ft offshore. SE Tassie's barrel count is up. Those who stayed around South Arm, would have been disappointed with small waves last week, or lack of banks and large closeouts this week.Plenty of SW and Southerly swells on the way for the weekend. Swell is still to large for South Arm, so not sure what will happen to the banks. Head up the East Coast and find somewhere picking up the southerly swell.

Not a great deal of action in South Arm this week. Wedge worked, but was small on Friday (photo). The Kelly Slater show went to Shipsterns same day. Some banks holding the small swell at Sandpits. Forecast is for small waves through to weekend, but they have been getting it wrong lately so its worth a check for yourself.

Extra Rant - For those reading this direct on the forum, here is an extra photo showing just how wasteful and disrespectful of the environment are the "worlds best practice" Forestry Tasmania. For the past 5 days they have been burning off areas like this that 2 weeks ago were Old Growth Forest. Its such a waste, all for woodchips.

Again last week's surf has been pretty poor in SE TAS. Cloudy Bay had some waves and good winds, but South Arm was very lacklustre. With 40 - 50 knot Westerly winds at the moment some of the westerly swell is getting to Rebounds. If the swell goes SW, maybe the points will be on. Weekend winds look good, but the swell is dropping.

Hows the water temp down there at the moment mate?

Longboarding > You

Its getting colder and colder. I am wearing the wetsuit booties all the time now. Of course there are those that somehow make it through the whole of winter with just the steamer, but I think they have no feeling in their feet or hands.

But if you want a technical answer, I would say that its about 13 - 14 deg. the wind doesn't help today.

At last a good week. Small points on Thursday, Wedge on Fri, Sat, and uncrowded Monday. Swell has really dropped off, but a trip to the Tasman had only me and a mate taking advantage of the NE swell, in 3ft offshore at Eaglehawk (pictured). Outlook is good for 2/3ft waves and N - NW wind over the weekend. Water temps down to about 13deg now.

Hey Lost - good to see some of the Derevko suits in the latest TRACKS wettie guide. You should get a banner for the homepage on here as well I reckon. I advertised my B and B for not a lot (thanks Adam) and have to say I was very happy with the response, lots more traffic on here than the magazine sites. Anyways, keep up the reports, love reading them.

Its been a mixed week. With the swell on 1 day then gone the next. Standout around Hobart day was Monday at Wedge. A bank at sandpits has been around for a while and is the pick of spots along South Arm beachies at high tide. Outlook is mixed for the next few days, so best to get out of the house and check conditions yourself. Water temps down to 12 or below now.

Another pretty lacklustre week in the South Arm area. However from Friday to Monday any beach facing east was picking up the swell from a low that sat off New Zealand for 5 days. Even the points between Orford and Swansea were working. Outlook for the weekend is some ok swell, but southerly winds, which means just about everywhere is onshore. So good luck with your search.

For those reading the forum and not the weekly fuel dump here is a bonus link to a video of the same spot as in the photo. There was only 2 of us in the water for hours. Not saying the exact location though as I would be run out of town for publishing it. You won't find it on this website either.
