general information

The north end of Whale Beach is The Wedge. An A frame peak that is formed when the SE swell hits the rock ledge and bounces back to create and solid, pitching wedge. The take off is quick and the wave then blasts down the line. Great wave for experienced surfers and bodyboarders.

On days when the swell is NE or E you can get good beach breaks just up from the corner that are fun to surf also.

As the take off zone is quite small, a crowd will make it a bit frustration. Keep your wits about you and show respect and you will be fine.
