general information
On the south side of Windang Island is an excellent left hander that wraps around the island close to the rocks. This is a well known south coast big wave spot as while it will start to work around 1.5 metres it will hold well in excess of 4.5-5M + On the big days it offers up a steep jacking takeoff and a hollow face strictly for experienced big wave riders only. On the smaller days around 2 metres or so it's not so intimidating and can offer long, punchy rides with hollow sections, but still for experienced surfers.
It's protected from summer northeasterly winds by the high cliff lined island and northwesterlies are offshore making it a good summer spot in thumping swells. Any wind from the south will soon mess it up and spoil the stoke
Enter the water by a well timed jump off the rocks near the takeoff spot followed by a short sprint paddle into the lineup. To exit take the longish paddle back to the sandy beach to the south of the island after your last ride.
