general information
This is a powerful slab reef/point break kinda setup. A southeast swell hits the tip of the point and reels off a hollow righthand barrel into the bay on the north side of the harbour. It will start to work at a couple of feet and hold up to 10ft+. The takeoff zone is pretty small so any more than half a dozen people and it starts to fell a little crowded but as the swell rises and that lip gets thicker the crowds subside a little!!
Entry to the water is a well timed an positioned jump off the rock ledge to the right of the break (harbour side). Be careful when doing this as there are submerged ledges an rocks so you need to jump well clear and aim for the deep spot. From here it's a very short paddle into the line-up. Getting out can be a little more tricky, you need to aim for the bay in front of the car park to the north side of the break and tread carefully between the urchin infested boulders. Easy enough and small days but on bigger days heavy lines of white water serve to ping pong you through the rocks and there can be a strong sweep current too. If you get swept past the bay don't worry it's only about a 500 metre paddle to the north beach!!
On it's day this break can be awesome throwing out thick lipped and heavy barrels - for experienced surfers only.
