general information
Hollow as hell deathpit! Don't even think about it unless you're very experienced/hellman/mental/suicidal/all of the above. This is a popular one with the local bodyboarders and hellman surfers. You'll really want a clean, big swell to really appreciate this wave in all it's glory. A swell from a southerly direction will hit the edge of the reef and deliver a short and intense left and a much longer right. A swell from a northerly direct will have the opposite effect and a swell with plenty of east can flick up a perfect and heavy A-frame peak with menacing lip. Think square cavernous barrels when it's over 6 feet and bring spare boards.
Entry to the water is to the south side of the break, just hop into the deep water straight off the rocks and dry hair paddle into position. Getting back you have two choices, either paddle back the way you came and squeeze in between the channel in the rocks and onto the small beach or take the longer paddle round to the boat ramp in the bay on the north side of the break, the latter option is the best in big swells.
This area is also popular with fisherman and recreational scuba divers.
