Standard beach break peaks breaking over shifting sandbanks in any swell from the northeast to south directions. It doesn't like a huge swell, up to head high is plenty, depending on the banks. The north end can sometimes be the best option near the Bega rivermouth. There are more rocky and sandy bay to the north that offer good waves in carying conditions too.
