general information

It's a pretty inconsistent spot thanks to Wedding Cake island just offshore blocking most swell and taking the sting out of what does get through. However, in big east or southeast swells there can be a nice lefthander that wraps around the north point over the reef offering powerful rides, but it's pretty rare. Also on the south end of the beach is a couple of right hand reefs that work in really punchy south swells. Northwest to west winds are the go for these spots. In the middle of the beach you might a beach break peak but generally it's crap and closes out due to lack of good banks. If all else fails you could head to the Coogee Bay Hotel to drown your sorros.
