general information
Grab your best 'speed' air mattress and hit the beaches. When she blows long enough in the Adriatic, the piers and groynes around Durress can trap a nice little sandbank that wedges up any available swell into a nice little peak. You wont be sharing these rides with other surfers but you will be passing a couple of hundred swimmers who will stand there gob smacked as you cruise past them hanging 10 on your 12 footer. Make sure you wear a leg rope in these conditions as loosing your board will result in it cruising pilotless through about a dozen congregations of elderly people swimming waist deep in the shore break. A potentially amusing scenario for you when out the back but a little embarrising when it comes time to retrive your board amidst the carnage you have wrought.
It this all gets a bit crazy on the busy stretches, try some of the piers on the northern industrial beaches, the crowd here will be mimimal, the water a little murky, your scalp a little itchy...
