general information

Stockton Beach is 32 kilometre stretch of sand that runs from the town of Stockton near Newcastle all the way to Birubi Point in the north. The dunes here are the largest mobile dune formation in NSW and offer incredible 4WD and sandboarding options for those so inclined. The dunes extend up to 5 kilometres inland giving you a true Saharan desert experience if you stray far from the surf.

32 kilometres gives you a lot of options to explore, The Wreck offers a nice sandbank to consider whilst a small but clean swell will render hundreds of peaks right along the stretch. 4WD access a must, permits required and available from most service staions in the area. When the wind turns NE, keep on trucking up to Birubi Point, one of the few surf spots in NSW that will be offshore in a summer afternoon Nor Easter.
