general information

Another of the short sharp reef breaks that dot the coast along Nusa Dua. This break is right in front of the giant chessboard at the Grand Hyatt resort - hence the name. A steep takeoff with a hollow fast wall breaking onto sharp dry reef. Kick off as late as you dare depending on how low the tide is.

Wet season left
The right Peak here is pretty short and quick, hardly anyone bothers with 200 metre rights just a little further south. The better wave is the LEFT that zips along closer to the "island", one of Bali's only wet season lefts. Although these days some less experienced surfers are onto the fat left next to the boat channel straight out from the temple off the southern headland. Full details on all Bali's waves are in the Indo Surf & Lingo guidebook - http://www.indosurf.com.au
