general information

Shallows is situated on a 300 meter stretch of beach located just north of Yallingup. The surf here is fickle but when all the elements come together short lefts and rights will appear, breaking over patches of reef and sand. The ideal size for Shallows is two to four foot (waist to just over head high), any bigger and it tends to close out. The waves are often quick, allowing one or two fast turns before ending up on the inside where it can be quite shallow – as the name suggests. You can check the swell from the lookout on the hill overlooking Yallingup, Rabbits and Shallows. Yallingup town is an idyllic little surf town with a general store, a pub, a couple of nice caravan parks, and not much else. Shallows is just one of half a dozen good surf breaks in the Yallingup area. While Shallows may not be the pick of the bunch, it’s still well worth checking on a regular basis. BT
