general information

The Kennett point break is really an easy little wave, but not recommended for learners as you are taking off right in front of, and a short distance from, the rocks. It works on any wind from a S to a NW and tends to get quite crowded on S to SW winds, as, along with Lorne Point, it is one of the few protected breaks on those winds. It does not need a big swell to work, but the tide must be low.

The wave itself is quite a long right-hander and can usually be made all the way through to the beach break, and for an easy paddle you walk back out along and then jump off the rocks. The camping ground is right across the road from the break and a great place to stay. Not unusual to see koalas in the trees. Not many permanent residents, but a very popular camping ground from December through till April.
