There is a peak out at the point here with a right and a left as well as better quality lefts further inside towards the harbour wall. All breaks are over very sharp and uneven volcanic rock and entry and exit from the surf can be tricky, especially when the bigger swells are running, boots essential not only for the cold but for reef protection. This spot offers punchy walls and sometimes barrels for the experienced surfer. North winds are good for the end of the point, look out for northeast to east for the left inside to be offshore.
