general information

Righthand point break that on it's day rivavls any wave in the world for perfection. And it's not just the wave, the bay, backed by the lush mountains gives you the feeling you are surfing in Paradise. Cane Garden Bay itself, is a small west facing secluded bay and the western coast of Tortola (easterly trades offshore!). It requires swell to warp around the point into the bay. Most often this is achieved from North Atlantic deep winter lows sending large ground swells down form the north, during the northern hemisphere winter, but hurricane swells also offer up possibilities.

When conditions are right, the spot puts on fast, reeling walls that peel around the point over sharpish coral-rock reef. If the swell is large enough you will get barrels. However these conditions only happen a couple of days a month at best during the season, so you'll have to be lucky to jag it unless you have time, and the time spent waiting in paradise has it's advantages.
