general information

A north easterly facing bay with 4 reef breaks, 3 right handers to the south end of the bay and a left hand cobble dump break to the north. The three reefs to the south consist of an inside reef, middles, and an outer reef. Which one to surf depends on swell size. The middle reef tends to be most popular offering long fast punchy rides, the inner reef is more sheltered and doesn't get going all that often and the outer reef is a long paddle offering very heavy waves. Rips here can be strong and combined with the slate sea bed makes this a break for intermediate to experienced surfers. The high cliff lined hills to the south offer good respite to strong southerly to easterly winds making this a good port to weather a southerly storm. The left hand reef to the north is less surfed than the rights and can be interwoven with crab and lobster pots so potentially dangerous and best avoided during these times.
