Playa del Macao is about 20 minutes drive west of Bavaro beach. It's home to a series of beach breaks which provide fast and hollow waves worthy of a trip here. Closest best surfing option for those staying in Punta Cana. For something more challenging try a reef-point break just off Punta Macao, at the eastern end of the beach. As always on this coast, get in early before the breeze gets up.
