general information
Often though of as South Shore's premier wave and infact when on, it's one of the best waves in Hawaii. Though because of this it's going to be one of the most crowded and competitive. The wave is an exposed reef break that has benefited from dredging of the nearby channel. It is a long left with a few different hollow sections that mean you're going to get a barrel. There's a few take off spots and as the name suggests it's pretty bowly on the outside getting hollower the further in and shallower you get.
Best on a solid a south swell and offshore nor'easters, so like the rest of the south shore, northern hemisphere summer is preferred. When solid, it's best left to the experienced surfer, as the reef gets shallow in sections both the reef and urchins don't take kindly to a rub.
