general information

Picturesque island located off Kaupo Beach Park, just around from Makapu'u Point on the windward coast. At the western end of the island, on a northerly swell, waves wrap around the island over a rock-reef producing long and fast rights. Gets hollow as the tide drops and probably too hollow at low tide.

You can paddle there from the Makai reserach Pier at Kaupo Cove, but you're looking at a 1.5 kilometre paddle, and there's some brutal currents between the mainland and the island. Otherwise take a boat.  Also known as Rabbit Island. The shape of the island looks a bit like a rabbit but was named so because there are actually rabbits on the island.
