general information
Hamoa beach is on a loop road (Haneo'o Road) off the road to Hana on east coast. On a good east to southeast swell a powerful shorebreak is to be had that lends itself to bodyboards and shortboarders looking for a heavy barrel. The beach is reasonably exposed and rips and currents, particularly during winter, means you need some experience.
It's a bit of a hike from parking on the road and the beach is surrounded by private property owned by the Hotel Hana Maui, and so has facilities, mainly for guests, but no-one seems to mind some subtle visitor use.
