general information

The most famous wave in Barbados and easily one of the best in the Caribbean. Soup bowls is a classic right hander reef break that occasionally offers a left hander on acute northerly swells. When the wave is smaller it often sections out permitting the crowd to spread a little more evenly, when it's big however the wave wraps all the way through. There is pretty much only one take off point in these conditions and the locals can be a little fussy about who gets the good ones.

The east coast location means that there is almost always a wave here but the quality will be dependent on the wind. The prevailing wind here is straight onshore for most of the year so definitely try to beat it with an early session. This is a very good spot to watch one of the locals come in from before you go out - unless you enjoy pulling urchin barbs from the soles of your feet for the next few days.

If it's really just too crowded here try Parlors to the south or if it seems a little daunting on day one of the surf trip ease into things up north at Sand Bank.
