general information
Las Penitas is a small coastal village located on the Nicaraguan Pacific Coast, just west of Leon. It's a lazy beach town with a length of sand fronted by hotels. The beach holds a few decent peaks, that will de uncrowded. Surf year=round here but southern hemi south swells preferred. There are small boulders dispersed through the sand so keep an eye out. The name Las Penitas literary means “the little rocks” in Spanish.
