general information

Ocean Grove beach generally isn’t regarded as a surf beach, although there are waves and you definitely can surf here. The waves lack power and shape for high performance surfing, but often nice two to three foot waves (waist to head high) slowly peel across the beach. The waves are ideal for beginners, intermediates, or anyone wanting to cruise around on a long-board for a couple of hours.

Ocean Grove is your classic summer time family beach. The water is packed with kids on boogie boards, retirees, and holiday makers, all watched over by the Surf Life Savers. The mellow nature of the beach and waves makes Ocean Grove popular with surf schools. The beach stretches for kilometres, ensuring there’s enough room for everyone.

The beach is easy to find once near the township of Ocean Grove - just follow the signs.

Unlike summer, winter sees Ocean Grove beach almost deserted, with only a handful of long-boards frequenting the beach.

Accommodation can be scarce in the area over summer, as holiday makers converge on the coast. The rest of the year Ocean Grove is fairly quiet place with only the local people around town.
