STC in association with Chris O'Callahan are proud to be part of The Blackwater Lodge in Teahupoo. Officially, the Lodge opened for business to a few select guests in Feb 2007. During the month of May the Lodge served as the main gathering spot for the crew of the Billabong Pro. The lodge is now open to guests from around the world.

Blackwater Lodge is the only place to stay at Teahupoo and is situated just above the village overlooking the famous Teahupoo break with views of the wave breaking in the distance.

The Blackwater Lodge at Teahupoo is for anyone looking for an authentic getaway near one of the worlds most dynamic waves, but more importantly - in an authentic Tahitian village. Come and enjoy some great restaurants in real local style. Loads of water activities and things to see and do. It is a laid back, beautiful town, very reminicent of Hawaii 30 years ago. Its a great destination and offers plenty of diverse activities beyond surfing. All of this combines to make a great destination for families as well. The lodge itself consists of 3 bungalows (housing dining, accommodation & activities). The main middle bungalow sleeps up to 4 people in an open plan style, with a loft. The accommodation is comfortable but relatively basic - in Teahupoo it's all about the experience & the surf.

Teahupoo is located 30 kms or some 2 hour's drive from Papeete, Depending on availability a Blackwater Lodge representative may be available for a lower cost transfers. Internal transport is either slow or expensive in Tahiti with taxi transfers costing close to $200 usd each way. We reccomend either renting a car at the airport or simply let us pre-arrange a car for you.

The beach at Teahupoo is visable from the upper floor and is a short walk from the Lodge. There are a selection of breaks to surf nearby as well as horseback riding, scuba diving, hiking and other activities. The Lodge is also offering as an add on option, surf guides with taxi boats, fishing and meal plans inclusive of breakfast and dinner.

The Teahupoo region is a surfers paradise. What most people don't know that there are a number of other breaks beyond the well known wave at Teahupoo.

Teahupoo has seven spots within five miles of each other, all breaking in different swells and winds, so its bound to be good somewhere. There are Two Semi-Secret Rights very close to Teahupoo which range in dificulty from beginners to experienced surfers waves. Teahupoo its self is the next pass up the reef. Its another little known fact that the wave at Teahupoo isn't just for experts. At sizes below five feet, the wave offers decent surfers an amazing ride: a non threatening bowl section and rippable shoulder. Its the most consistent spot around, breaking from 2ft to as large as you can handle it. The next left just down from Teahupoo is No Pass Left. It's a soft breaking left and quite long as well. A great wave for beginners to experts. The very next pass named Small Pass has a short punchy right. It's a mechanical and a wave magnet. It breaks up to 6ft and is for intermediate to advanced level surfers. For years until the discovery of Teahupoo, the Grande Pass was known as Tahiti's premier wave. Its a very long left for intermediate to advanced surfers, and handles up to 8ft. There is another left just beyond the Grande Pass called Miti Rapa which is a very hollow, hard breaking left and holds sizes up to 10ft which is best for advanced level surfers only.
